Ribonucleic acid synthesis in tumor homogenates.

چکیده
Ochoa and his collaborators (6) have shown that cell-free extracts of certain bacteria can be used to accomplish the net synthesis of polynucleotides resembling ribonucleic acid (RNA)1 from purine and pyrimidine nucleoside diphosphates. The net synthesis of RNA by cell-free prepara tions from animal tissues has not been reported. However, renewal or turnover of RNA components in preparations from animal tissues has been es tablished by isotopie tracer experiments. Goldwasser (4) has reported the incorporation of adenine-8-C14 and of adenosine-5'-monophosphate (AMP) labeled with radiocarbon or radiophosphorus into the RNA of cell-free extracts from pigeon liver. Potter et al. (18, 19) have reported the incor poration of orotic acid-C14 into RNA by the "cytoplasmic fraction" of rat liver. Using the same rat

Polynucleotide Biosynthesis: Formation of a Sequence Adenylate Units from Adenosine Triphosphate by an Enzyme from Thymus Nuclei* of MARY EDMONDS AND RICHARD ABRAMS
In spite of recent notable achievements in the isolation and purification of enzymes capable of synthesizing polynucleotides (l-3), the identity of those enzymes responsible for the synthesis of ribonucleic acid in mammalian cells has not been established. The nucleoside diphosphates of the four bases of ribonucleic acid can be polymerized into a polynucleotide which resembles a natural ribonuc...

متن کاملSelective Inhibition by Sorbylhydroxamic Acid of Deoxyribonucleic Acid Synthesis in Ehrlich Ascites Tumor Cells1
Sorbylhydroxamic acid (SOHA) inhibited the incorporation in vitro of thymidine into deoxyribonucleic acid in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells, with no appreciable effect on the incorporation of uridine into ribonucleic acid or of L-leucine into protein. Hexanoylhydroxamic acid, devoid of the conjugated double-bond system, had no such activity. The concentration of SOHA conferring 50% inhibition of D...
